26 OctDisability League Tag Day
On Thursday 13 October, the NRL and Building Kinnections Group along with Disability Support providers jointly hosted the Disability League Tag Day at Caltex Park. This was a fun filled day of competition in mixed gender teams of 12 with 8 players per team. St Johns entered two teams for the day. Players were Lachlan Connolly, Ethan Pearce-Daley, Jacob Clark, Jack Allen, Ben Hart, Joe Barnes, Daniel Okoduwa, Lachlan Dawson, Sarah McCarthy, Mariah Giusti, Daniel Duffy, Paddy Haycock, Maya Angus, Kelsey Bax, Lucy Guan, Jackson Skene, Ruby Appleby, Logan Watmore, Zoe Warwick, Charlie Spora, Sam Thompson and Swade Pay. Whilst unsuccessful in scoring enough points to enter the finals, these two teams scored aplenty in the fields of skills development, encouragement, friendship, support of others and team building. They were all a credit to their families and the school in the way they behaved and the sportsmanship they displayed. It was a pleasure to spend the day with every one of these young people. Participants were also treated to sausage sandwiches, popcorn, hats/caps, jumping castle – all at no cost. Many thanks to the teaching assistants Miss Parker, Miss Goodwin, Mr Walters and Mr Shepherd for their encouragement of students and organisational skills displayed on the day.
