A 5.15am start was no barrier to the seven Year 7’s and eight Year 8 as they tackled the first Western Region da Vinci Decathlon at Scots All Saints College Bathurst on Thursday. The da Vinci Decathlon is an international academically based challenge where teams of eight students from each group work together to solve a series of highly challenging questions and scenarios.
The da Vinci Decathlon is based around the 10 disciplines of academic mastery that Leonardo de Vinci displayed during his life; Engineering, Mathematics, Code breaking, Art and poetry, Science, English, Philosophy, Creative producers, Cartography and General knowledge.
The level of questions was set extremely high and all students’ acquitted themselves exceptionally well. While neither team finished in the top three to move onto the state round, they did manage to gain some excellent results within the following academic challenges:
Year 8: 1st Science, 1st Engineering, 3rd Art and Poetry
Year 7: 3rd General Knowledge, 3rd Mathematics
