Social Justice

St Johns College has always strived to instil a sense of social justice in our students. We use the example of Jesus to help our students understand how we have a responsibilty to help those less fortunate and to act when you see a need. Every year, our Year 12 cohort selects a local charity and raises funds for them. In the past 5 years alone, our Year 12 students have raised close to $100000 for local chartities to assist them in continuing their important work. Our students are encouraged not just to give money, but to give of their time and assist these charities in a 'hands on' way. The College also raises funds for Caritas and provides close to 100 hampers for the local St Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Appeal. Our students also volunteer to deliver these hampers to the people of Dubbo in need. The College also responds to immediate community needs when presented, for example flood and bushfire appeals.
